The idea of Cal Ai

Cal Ai, launched in May 2024, emerged from Yadegari’s personal frustration with existing nutrition-tracking apps. One day Yadegari, just tried to track his calories on MyFitnessPal,” He found lots of problems and bugs in the app and after a few days he quit using the app.

And this is how the idea of cal ai is found.  His friend ‘’Anderson and Zach both’’ spoke about their frustrations with existing nutrition-tracking apps, and decided to build CalAi together.

The initial version of CalAi was developed within a few months using Python and Node.js, emphasizing rapid prototyping and user feedback. The duo managed to achieve remarkable growth, reaching $1 million in revenue just four months after launch without any external funding.

Cal AI launched in May 2024. A calorie-tracking app that hit $12 Million in revenue/month and reached 10s of millions of users within a month.

The app’s core technology differentiates it from competitors by using AI-powered image recognition to estimate nutritional content. Users simply Snap a photo or scan a barcode, and Cal AI instantly calculates calories and nutrients.
